Hey everyone! My name is Brigette Filbrun. I am currently 21 years old and have lived in small-town Arcanum, Ohio all my life. I graduated from Indiana University – East in May of 2021 with a degree in Secondary Education – Mathematics. After graduating, I did a summer internship at Community of Faith Churches and was planning on getting a teaching job in the fall. However, God had other plans for me, and He led me in the direction of continuing with the yearly internship that Community of Faith offers. This was just the beginning of saying no to my preferences and saying yes to God’s leading. (I’ll get into this more in my next post!) I am currently working at Greenville National Bank as a teller.
A few things about me:
1. I love to read books. Best 2 books I’ve ever read: How’s Your Soul? (Judah Smith) and The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry (John Mark Comer). You should read them.
2. I thoroughly enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee. Keep it black though.
3. My favorite meal is chicken fajitas from Las Marias. Best part is they know my order.
4. My favorite vacation spot is at the beach- any beach.
5. Tuesdays are my favorite nights. (Shoutout Community Young Adults.)
6. My internship was with Youth Ministry. I have also done teaching/coaching for middle schoolers/high schoolers. I believe in building up this age group and adding value to them, that they may be able to step into the identity of who God says they are and into the calling of which He has put on their life.
I’m super excited to start this next season of my life. I would love for you to join me in this journey leading up to the trip, as well as through my experience on the field.
